9/11

i will not be commemorating 9/11 by "ordering 12 roses and getting 6 FREE" as my spam will have me do. i also will not be commemorating the day by gathering at the flagpole in front of my office in order to "share a moment of silence... in order to join our voices in unity" as the poorly written memo given to us from the management company will ( Read more... )

thanks for sharing that... i don't mean to sound like some support group leader that way, but i prefer reading things that are heartfelt about this rather than cooked up by the media... not that they even have to do any cookery... i too will be avoiding the media today...

my brother lives in d.c., and did one year ago also... his gf at the time worked in the block adjacent to the towers to the east... and then there were all the amninnies i was worried for... i still remember our collective relief when dj showed up in the channel (everyone was accounted for at the time ...except dj -- i hope that's worth at least a giggle in retrospect)...

shit, i'm kinda paralyzed now... but thank you again

You echo most of the sentiments I've heard today. It seems like the lowest common denominator loves when the media reminds us to remember something hardly forgettable.

In unrelated news, I'm coming to NY in mid-October, wheeeee!

When I talk to someone from ANYWHERE in this world, I always refer to New York City as "The City." Well, I suppose I'm guilty of referring just to Manhattan as "The City,"

LOL, this makes you a true Long Islander. I always do the same thing. It's going to feel weird when i live in orlando.

Thanks for sharing that. As much as I tried to avoid all the media coverage today, it's the personal tales that tell the most, and I knew that I would find that here tonight.

Seven years later, this moves me to tears. My god I'm glad you're still here, Jody. *hug*

:( I'd never read this before, jo. Just reading it now for the first time. Still very real.

I have my own memories from my childhood and the WTC. That connection. And now all these years later... reading your accounts from the day and also your childhood, I'm taken back to those times. I'm okay with that. Thank you for sharing your feelings and reminding me.

Thank you for taking the time to read this and for your comment! It makes it feel that it was worthwhile to share it. It brings me back to that moment, but then I realize I also have repressed a lot of that day. 16 years later, I still don't quite know what to say. *HUG*
