I actually believed her name to be Virginia as well, as Ginny is often what one calls a girl/woman named Virginia. It wasn't until after the release of OoTP that J K Rowling said that Ginny's full name was Ginevra Molly Weasley.
No, it's really Ginevra. It sort of makes sense? I mean, if Arthur was named for King Arthur, then it would make sense that there would be a Guinevere in his family, which is what the name Ginevra translates to
( ... )
In my opinion, it's not worth the time and effort to read it, and certainly not worth its cover price. I've learned my lesson after book five, when I bought the book at a midnight release and absolutely hated it. I first read my friend's copy of HBP (Heartily Botched Plot), then I read another one online so I could review it fairly. I hated it just as much the second time.
Save your hard earned money. If you still want to read it, either:
A)Read it online B)Read a friend's copy C)Wait until a disgruntled reader tosses his/her book out the window and pick it out of his rubbish bin
I don't have much of a problem with Hermione, but I've consistantly wanted to punch Ginny in the face throughout this book. Harry's love interest aside, she's just TOO perfect. She's got this horrifically overstated sense of self-worth that's just obxnoxious. Bravo. This is going in my memories. ^_^
In your memories? Why thank you, I've just thought Ginevra was just too hard to believe as a character and had to state the reasons for that disbelief.
Although I don't normally like slash, I think even Harry/Draco, as you have in your icon, would be an improvement over the unconvincing relationships shown in canon.

At this current moment in time, I'm arguing with some strangers why Ginny is such a Mary Sue, or Ginerva.
And i cringe when people call her Virginia.
