as to why we like or dislike certain characters, particularly characters in the Harry Potter fandom, is that we can either understand them or we cannot. Some characters, we can identify with one some levels, while with others, like the female characters in particular for me, we can't identify with at all ( Read more... )

Well, at first I thought: "WOW! two female characters right off the bat! This will prove difficult to get my head around, but after spending the last few hours watching my lovely wife catching up on her manuscripts for work, cooking, attending the aquarium, and transplanting the houseplants, I think I can get started on the answers...especially, since my wife got a little annoyed at my watching her so much, but how can I not? She's so beautiful.

So now I can have a go at this. * Fjodor closes his eyes and morphs into the character of Cho Chang, who is the only female HP character even close to being remotely as lovely as his wife *

Well for starters, Harry was not quite a rebound for me, for I genuinely liked him at the time. He actively cast glances in my direction throughout his fourth year, and I thought he was a kind boy. Even when many of the students ridiculed him following his selection as the Hogwarts Champion, I just couldn't join their cruelty, because Harry seemed uncomfortable from all the attention, and did not ( ... )

Awwww, very good! I like the answers, they seem very Cho-like. =) Since she is really nice and all, even if I don't really appreciate that about her...anyway, thanks for doing this! Hehe

A female character again, and one that I think I don't understand very well. This will prove difficult, but let me try...

*changes the channel on her magically modified MP3 player, so that her hair can dance to hip-hop instead of classic rock-n-roll* What's my secret? Well, Tatsuya, I think you can thank J K Rowling, the author of our series, for my change. In the beginning, she wrote me as nothing more than a plot-device, I was Ron's little sister, Voldemort's Victim, Harry's stalker, Hermione's best friend etc ( ... )

Hooray! I finally get to answer as a character who is of the same gender as I am.

*Morphs into Lucius Malfoy*

*Lucius Malfoy, clad in his customary elegant robes, seats himself opposite snailfin and haughtily sneers* My son? My son is having an affair with Mr. Harry Potter? *Sneers* Surely you jest? *At the solemn look on snailfin's face, Lucius Malfoy's expression turns to one of horror for but a moment.* It is true then? Do excuse me for a moment. *Lucius stalks into an adjacent room and screams in a most undignified way, stomps about in a manner unbecoming of a man of his status, then bangs his head against the wall in a way that casts any vestige of Malfoy pride off the nearest precipice. Of course not Mr Malfoy *snerks* In fact my blood is purer than yours, as I'm the heir of Slytherin and Gryffindor, I'm dumbledore's granddaughter, Jame's aunt, Harry's father, Sirius' sister and the mother of jesus.

I'm sorry, reading so many fanfics with Mary Sues has corrupted my mine a bit O_O
