People who throw around the word 'pretentious' in the wrong context need to be set on fire. Yes, kiddiewinks, I know you want to look cool and cynical and edgy and you've found an exciting new word and want to use it as much as possible, but referencing books and bands is NOT the definition of 'pretentious'.

The point I find more annoying is the complaint that it's "too british". Why do the yanks have such a hard time comprehending Britain? Does it just irk them that a miniscule island nation is regarded as a world power in the same breath as their vast bloated continental nation?

I really think comics is possibly the only art form in which the artists would get shit for "knowing too much" outside of their own medium.
