Ok, that's possibly overselling it. But I thought I'd share this:

That is, a new breed of digital literary agent who's well aware of the fanfic community and is looking for things like m/m romance, vampires and all that jazz.

Thanks for posting this! Most definitely bookmarked. I'm very interested, but I don't really know where to start (what form would a query be in?) and I don't want to start on the wrong foot.

Plus, I only have fanfiction, no novel-length original works.

Any advice?

Mate, don't ask me for advice... you'll get an essay! Nothing I like more than teaching people how to live, Barney-from-How-I-Met-Your-Mother style ;) (and if you don't watch that, my first advice is, watch it!)

But, for relevant advice on this topic... well, guess the first question to ask yourself is... do you want to write things that aren't fanfic? What do you want to write?

A query letter (I say this from second hand info, not having written one ever!)is your pitch to an agent, telling them a bit about yourself and (more importantly) about the book you've written/are writing. Though,,,,I'm betting there are websites that could put it better than that, I'll have a gander.

First things first is definitely... what do YOU want to write? What kind of thing? What motivates you? (feel free to answer with a pm if you don't want to share too much! I'm never sure how private people want to be about their writing!

Pleasure, I think it sounds like a really nice addition to the publishing industry. :)
