I am really interested to find out what you think about the state of radio in Singapore. I'm not talking about music - because that's way too difficult to come to any kind of consensus about

Personally, I feel that deejays in Singapore don't get enough freedom to say what they want on air. We're just not a liberal enough country to allow it.
So basically, it's quite sad to see that the very same people who try to liberalise us with the music they play and the things they say are unable to do so to their full ability because Big Brother is listening in as well. :p
That said... I think there is a dearth of knowledge regarding talkback radio. Seems as if the youth of today don't really use it for serious topics, only for 'issues' like "what was your first date like" yadda yadda on Love Songs and the like.

Ditto the lack of freedom part. I feel we are too controlled. S'poreans are being moulded & they shall know no other way 'cept the manufactured in s'poreway.
& the night love programs or whatever you call them are so freaking whine-y you just shut off the radio! Not the songs but the topics on love always revolve affairs, being unfaithful blah, blah, blah.
I always applaud a little whenever I hear the DJ expressing some what unconventional views on Government related policy. Then again, why am I glad for their self-censorship?
Out of habit, I listen to 950 or 933 in the morning. But it's really as a audio filler. The things the DJs speak over the radio provides no depth and insight into the topic/current affairs which they are discussing. I don't hear anyone voice out a stronger opinion. Perhaps they are afraid to lose their job.
If I have to live without radio, I could do so easily.

I hear what you say about freedom of expression. But actually we really used to get a lot of freedom. Most of it is self-imposed.

The State of Radio is in a State of Decline.
too much advertisements.
too little show prep.
too little real chemistry.
too little "heart".
too many bad voices.
too self-indulgent on part of djs.
