I've felt the same way for a long time, and I depended on a lot of my friends to fix me in the same way you do. The problem, I finally realized, is that the more you expect from them, the less they can give. You put a lot of pressure on them and even if they don't realize it, they're not living up to it and you get more and more depressed because you feel like no one cares.
If there's anything I've learned from it, it's that no one can fix you but you. That's not to say I don't still lapse into needing someone from time to time..but you've gotta learn to be comfortable with yourself before you can expect someone to be comfortable with you in a relationship. That is why I also have not had many.
