He’s scared. Really scared. Of falling for her again. He did it once and he doesn’t know if his heart can take it another time. Sitting alone in his dressing room he can hear the screaming fans waiting for him to get on stage, but he can swear her laugh is the loudest sound. She’s in backstage with his brothers waiting for him to come out. It’s already the second of his concerts she has been in, in less than a week. Exactly like a year ago, when he felt loved for a while
The time spent talking about the future and the past. All the heartbreak they both had experienced. And somehow during that time he fell in love. With her, and her smile, and her hair, and her laugh and the way she loved him too. And now that Selena Gomez is back in his life he wonders why he let her go. He can’t believe he could be that stupid. He had her, she was all his, but somehow he lost her. He knew, back in time, that their relationship would bring drama. There was the bitter ex, his bitter ex, and the crazy fans that threatened to kill Selena. But he also knew she didn’t mind one bit, she just wanted to be with him. But in one of the many sleepless nights he had, he decided it would be better to let her go and live a normal life. (He knew that she was a Disney star and that the possibilitties of her having a normal life were none but Nick realizes he can sometimes be a little naïve)
There’s a knock on the door.
He senses who it is. It’s like he has a radar made just so he can feel her presence a mile away. And he wonders if he should respond or just let her think he’s not there anymore.. And then the image of her crying during “Stay” comes to his mind. How she came to him after the concert and wrapped her tiny arms around him, stood on her tiptoes and whisper so only he could hear “I’ll stay if you want me to”
And maybe he has over stressed. Just because the last time he tried the second opportunitty thing it didn’t work, doesn’t mean this time won’t. She is different. Selena is Selena, not any other girl.
He has come to a decision by the time he is standing up from the couch. He walks torwards the door and takes a deep breath. Slowly he opens it, and she takes his breath away, Just like the first time he saw her, and the fifth and the tenth. And the millions more to come. And when she smiles, and her whole face lights up, he knows that this time it’ll work for them. Because it isn’t a thing of second opportunities but more of lost chances. And he won’t let it happen again. Selena is his and Nick really wants her to stay.
