I recently got my first pack of LED 60-watt equivalent bulbs at Lowes a few months ago. 6 bulbs for $10. I still have a number of compact florescent bulbs that I had been using over my work area. However, I feel like they were giving me headaches as I'd often feel unwell for the rest of the day after sitting with them on for a while.

So far I am really happy with them. They have excellent brightness and I haven't felt sick like I used to. In case you are interested, here are some specs.

  • Brand: Utilitech
  • Brightness: 750 lumens
  • Energy Usage: 9 watts
  • Life (based on 3 hours/day usage): 4.57 years, or approximately 5,000 hours
  • Appearance: Warm White

CFLs=)
40W using 11W.
Soft White appearance.

3 cost more than your 6 however.
That's kind of where I'm at.
If they're not going to last the time, maybe I can get something cheaper=\
I do like the way they look tho and that's the most commonly used bathroom.
Probably won't change anything.

Oh for my own record (and FYI), #1 went out today=)

PS: BTW I'm super curious if yours last 4 years or how long they last if you remember this post=D
They sound somewhat comperable (besides cost).

It'll be hard to measure if the bulbs last 4 years as I do not use them consistently. For example, I did not use the ones over my work desk at all today... So far, I haven't used the light in my bedroom either, I don't think. I guess they key is whether I use them 21 or less hours per week... and if so, if they go bad sooner than the 4.5 years advertised.

Hopefully I won't be in this apartment another 4.5 years from now... But I'm planning to take the bulbs with me and put in junk ones whenever I go. It might be hard to keep track of it all. :)

Fair enough=)

As mentioned above tho, I did not use ours for 7 years in a row either.
By similar math with occasional everyday use if they have the same or comperable lonjevity it'd be about a year.

But no worries.
