Just out of curiosity, can you buy your equipment rather than renting it? I'm not sure if you want to do that if you are thinking of dropping it... but that's what I did when I first got high speed Internet. I bought my cable modem right away instead of renting one. It paid for itself in like 9 or 10 months, so if I never bought it, I'd probably have lost $1,000 or more by this point for just renting a modem.

Once again, technology which is supposed to give us relaxation and happiness is instead just a source of stress and frustration. If I lived in a log cabin in the woods somewhere, I'd never have hot water and I wouldn't be upset when I'm deprived of it for two and a half weeks.

As far as I can tell, you CANNOT buy your TV eq but you can buy your computer eq (which I did; and of course they're pushing upgrades on that:P).

When my cable company forced an upgrade to cable modems, they actually took my old one and gave me a replacement at no cost. I'm not sure if Verizon will do that for you, but hopefully they do...

An elderly woman I know got locked out of her Gmail last week and asked me if I could come over and help her. After trying the recovery process, we weren't able to get her back in. Ultimately, we just created a new account. Once again, technology is supposed to be a pleasure or convenience, but it just creates frustration and stress. It's sort of like sin, in a way. :)
