I have a newly found nostalgic love for the "future" movie guys... My initial dislike stemmed from the fact that since they're future cars, they can really kind of look like anything, you know? I always loved the artistry and engineering of turning something recognizable like a modern car, and the plates and panels reveal a robot.
And out of all the future movie Transformers sits almost behind Wheelie in terms of suck....but I love them both so much now...hahahah
I hear ya, but what I loved as a kid, was the fact that they were ALIEN robots, and where they came from everybody had two forms, so it was only a Disguise to humans. I was always curious what they were like "au naturel". Season 3 is my favorite 'cause it's all on Cybertron (also it's my favorite version of the theme song).
This might be wading into deeper nerd territory, but I know you're down...
I wish there was a closer tie to humans in the Transformer development. Like when they were designed/built... Like even in the first episode, Wheeljack and Bumblebee still had windscreens and human sized control consoles. I always imagined they'd outlived and forgotten humanoid partners eons before. Later on, they found other human space people on another planet and made them into Targetmaster guns and heads and stuff. Well, I also wished all those guys with Cybertronian forms looked different than when they became human vehicles. Bumblebee became a little flying saucer, but still conveniently had on-model volkswagon feet. Wheeljack's bread box with a spoiler mode was pretty fun, too.
