Oh. That kind of sucks. It is cool you are trying to stay positive. True, it could have been worse. My mother had her house broken into before. They found some cash and some jewelry that was not too expensive. What was interesting was they also took a CD player that had my daughter's Disney songs CD in it and they went into the freezer and stole the fudge bars. I imagine some troubled teen in his bedroom listening to Cinderella's Ball and eating a fudge bar feeling so clever. Real tough guy.
You could try getting the culprit(s) IP address if they connect your Xbox online. You need to get the police to subpoena Microsoft for it, though. Here's an excerpt I found from a thread about tracking a stolen Xbox

Unfortunately, this Xbox360 was the newest console I'd purchased, and the only one where I didn't write the serial number down. I DID register it online with its serial number, but Microsoft can't seem to find any serial number attached to my name or account.
I've been told that any of the downloaded games and content I'd purchased are still available once I replace the Xbox, which is better than the answer I received from Nintendo, which was a big old no. Which makes no sense. Any games I downloaded under my name should still exist as a license I purchased. I'm working on that with them bit by bit. Might affect my replacement of the Wii.
