You can’t hear his words across the field. All you see are his green eyes; all you want are his green eyes. You feel out of place amidst the black cloaks. The weight of a sacrifice, one he never did agree with, searing your arm. You want the spot that you once held, back in his arms, his body pressed down on top of you, warmth.
The war presses on, two forces collide. Stumble to survive. Just like that first time you stumbled into his arms. Run and cringe. Just like you did when he saw what side you had chosen, green eyes hurting more than the brand that you wish to God you had never taken. He is gone, and all you want is him; back.
So close now, your lord has chosen him. Marked him, and you can’t stand that anyone but you has a right to him. No longer will you let him be his. You focus your intent. Draw together your will.
He shouts a warning to you, a desperate pleading. But you can’t hear what he says to you. Nothing you could say in return will lessen the punishment that your lord is about to deal to you.
Your lord turns; he can sense your disloyalty. A raised hand, an unleashed wand, a whispered spell. There is no pain, you are receding.
Green, just like his eyes, and forever, you’re in his arms.
