I don't know which is worse the original post asking if a KFC Australia (separate operating entity from it's parent company KFC) in which a man calms a bunch of angry, jumping West Indies (read: black) cricket fans with a bucket of KFC is racist, or the asshats ( like this one!) who say that the term Paki isn't racist when it refers to cricket ( Read more... )

It's worth noting that the whole Black People + Fried Chicken stereotype is largely unknown outside of North America.

Even without the context of the chicken, I still think the ad as it stands is racist.

There is one white guy, surrounded by a whole lot of black people, looking decidedly uncomfortable. He then says something about being in an "awkward situation", calms the crowd with food of any type (which he does NOT also eat), then says "too easy".

As I've seen it described elsewhere, it seems a bit like feeding time to calm the wild animals...

Exactly. To me it seems like "White man tames savages!" He could have handed out any food or object, really, and it'd still strike me the same way. The fact that it was fried chicken was just an added insult that an international company such as KFC should really make sure all of it's corporate branches are aware of.
