The stereo-opening cat I mentioned below was a Burmese, which are a lot like Siamese except more gregarious.

I didn't know Snoopy was so well trained. I'd like to see him do some of those tricks someday.

Random story:

growing up, we had a black rubber ball, about the size of a small beachball, that was known as the "Ubu Ball". I didn't find out until fairly recently that the Ubu Ball once had a glorious career as a cannonball in the play Ubu Roi, before being taken home by the director and condemned to the life of backyard toy for his daughters. :)

For nearly 25 years I just figured it had been picked up at the dime store and somebody had decided to name the thing Ubu.

That is hilarious. I wonder if the dog from the line I am quoting had a similar history?

This cat right here used to fetch, sit up and jump through a hoop in his younger years. Now he is old (15), arthritic and thinks I need to get a life that doesn't involve him doing tricks.

That video, though... When she said "roll over" I just knew that cat was going to give her The Look and saunter away. I'm kind of amazed that he did it!

My folks had a cat who could open the stereo cabinet and paw the on button to turn on the FM tuner, which was usually set to a classical station ... then he would go sleep in the sun patch in front of the speakers.

Amazing thing to watch - but he wouldn't do it if we asked him to!
