In which I explain how I recently became engaged!

sheercandy, who some of you know by her Twitter handle, Sootlace, recently proved beyond a shadow of a doubt that she is certifiably crazy when she agreed to marry me. (I'm still in a joyous daze about the whole thing, honestly.) She's pointed folks toward this blog for the proposal story, so here I am to ( Read more... )

Congratulations! I remember vaguely you saying something about a wedding but I was in the depths of The Plague then and am not relying on anything my mind tells me or tries to get me to believe from that period of about a week. You've been there, I'm sure.

The minute you said Long Beach I thought "Please let it be the QM. Pleasepleaseplease!" and it was! You have impeccable taste, my good man. I have stood on that very stage and its a perfect spot to do something like that. I hope she goes for The Princess Bride thing. She would make a wonderful Buttercup, of that I am sure. I would volunteer to play Fezzik, being 6'8 and not slightly built to go along with it, but there is the rather unfortunate problem of geography. The continent in the way and all that. I am confident that you both will be happy and there will be lots of hugging (and stuff) forever.

Thanks very much!

I have a feeling we'll chuck out Princess Bride as well and come up with our own unique deal, but the offer is appreciated!

One of the best weddings I've ever been to was on that very stage on the stern of the Queen Mary. It's a beautiful location, and surely a great start to a long and happy love affair! Congratulations!

That was a great wedding, wasn't it? And the pelicans doing a formation fly-by was the perfect touch! I wonder how Steve arranged that?

And Frank? Extremely romantic location to pop the question. I salute you! And, you know, congratulations.
