I like kisses! =) except the whole thing about kissing the people we love, love is a strong word yano? I mean eventually we love people, but you don't always kiss the people we love. The whole thing about closing your eyes though is interesting. I close my eyes most of the time cuzz its sorta feels odd to have them open...but maybe that's just me. Well there ya go, ta ta!

yeah so i cant say i know because i havent always closed my eyes i mean sometimes i do but i am kinda under the wouldnt you want to see them i guess it would be akward if both people had their eyes open i dont know i cant say its ever happend well you could ask mrs fraxetteus about that she might have something to say haha funny story there but back to the subject at hand i dont think open or closed eyes has anything to do with love or the act of kissing alone i like to think its more of the feelings behind kissing that is what really matters but i guess i just thought i would throw my two cents in

i think it comes from 2 parts:
a) if you're kissing a person you're pretty deeply ingrossed in what's going on at the mouth area. maybe so much so that you forget to keep your eyes open. kind of like when you see something amazing and your jaw drops open unconsciously, but in reverse.
b) at least in america, we are pretty big on our personal space bubbles. when you are kissing someone that bubble is being invaded pretty badly. so, to an extent, it may be us subconsciously trying to avoid acknowledging each other. not to say that it doesn't occasionally not work out and then you end up doing the whole awkward staring for a nanosecond thing.

so i guess it's a combination of cultural and instinctual stuff. it's pretty interesting to ponder tho.

Or maybe it's that by closing eyes, other senses become heightened.

It's gotta be cultural. I mean, kissing itself is cultural. I don't know that other cultures kissed before they were introduced to it by Western culture. I'm sure they had some sort of sign of affection (i.e., nose rubbing by eskimons), but not necessarily kissing.

This is only speculation. And I don't care enough about it to research it.
