In the old days, Santa came around town filling the good children's shoes with little doo-dads and trinkets. Saint Nick, "Santa", himself was poor, as were the children, and a just a little thing would make the destitute children of town smile with joy and cheer.
The truth is, in the present day, Santa does not come to our houses anymore. The children are all bad. Occasionally, he come through for a select child whose character is exemplary. As for the coals-in-the-stocking legend, Saint Nick cannot afford the modern rising prices of fossil fuels, and was forced not to continue this tradition.

Jesus Christ was Saint Nick's role model for giving. Why else was he a Saint? He must've come from a church, a clergy or a religious institution where he humbly learned the meanings of giving, benevolence and children. In everything there is Jesus somewhere.
