Honest to dog, can't the people in my local theatre community just act like adults every now and again?

The answer to this is, of course, no they cannot.

Because they can act like anyone else, but cannot act like an adult. Also, they don't get paid to act like an adult.

Wouldn't that be nifty? My least favorite version of stage management was always the kindergarten teacher part, which came up a lot more often than it should with a room full of nominal adults.
