Here's an idea Duke students. How about if you go to bed a little earlier? If I'm not mistaken, your parents are paying a lot of money for you to actually go to class.
I hate teaching 8 am classes. SHSU is primarily a commuter school (although that's changing), so it's not like we have a huge partying contingent among the student body. But the students are still apathetic and/or resentful and/or absent during the classes. And I know they aren't learning anything.
I agree that they should go to bed earlier, and that they should be getting their money's worth out of their classes. But from a practical standpoint the 8 am classes just aren't worth it.
That said, SHSU isn't Duke, and if I were a parent sending my kid to Duke I'd damn well want them to show up at 8 am and learn something.

Tell you what. You make dorms single-occupancy and soundproof, keep the 8AM classes. :P
