Is the Gospel Good News for You?

The Gospel of Jesus Christ is only Good News to those who recognize their sinfulness, fallenness, brokenness and hopelessness. This is a very meaningful entry. Thank you for what you have written and for sharing the gospel truth. I suppose the imagery of the prodigal being embraced by the father is my favorite imagery in scripture. I like the Gethsemani picture and have stood there many times. In fact, early this morning I wished to be there and now your picture takes me there. The gospel is great good news to this christian in the making.

I collect art and other depictions of the father and the son and have them framed in my home. I have never seen the one you share. I wish I knew where to get a copy.

I hotlinked this from the Greek Orthodox Archdiocesan website.

You might want to check out Come and See Icons (proceeds from which support ministry among Philadelphia's homeless) where they have an Icon of the Prodigal Son here and here. They are not exactly the same as this one, but they are in Byzantine style.

I will try to keep my eye out for this particular icon for you.

I really love icons where the people's cheeks are touching. It implies an intimate connection that is expressed so well in that gesture.
