:p I wouldn't mind another stalker. Although.. it would be far preferred to be an internet stalker than an IRL stalker. IRL stalkers upset me.

Another comm? Dunno. I'm in a few. :p Amazing_Ink, persnahpps?

I guess I could look into the history of marriage... but I'm lazy. Wee.

I guess that largely I don't understand the point of marriage nowadays.

More good questions.

I don't understand why people get so heated on these discussions. It seems like such a boring easy to figure out process.

I don't know, I never seem to understand anything.

the big reason why gays want to get married is the spousal rights. the right to chose how to live their life with the love of their life without ppl butting in. many gays have been outsted from their families and communities. once they found a place that accepted them, they put down roots, made their own families and life. and if something tragic happens, or death comes upon them, all of a sudden the same ppl who kicked them to the curb, come in and have EVERY RIGHT to do what THEY want to do with the person who is now incapacitaed or dead. thus, the person's wishes aren't aknowledged/carried out. you avoid that with marriage. civil unions and domestic parternships cover only so much. with marriage, EVERYTHING is covered, NO QUESTIONS ASKED. my mother in law can bitch all she wants to if something happens to my husband, but as his WIFE and POA (and this is important, b/c sometimes, being the spouse isn't enough. esp if certain legal papers were drawn up and signed before your marriage. if your in laws hate you AND have POA, the power ( ... )

Well, if POA is so important, surely one adult can make another adult the POA and that adult wins over the family?

I don't see polygamy as narcissistic or egotistical at all. I see it as a relationship with a lot of love to go around.. haha.. and something I might enjoy. Ideally, I see it as three friends who each love each other rather equally and want to spend the rest of their lives together. Sounds rather neat to me.

POA is awesome in that regard. BUT, it can be challegened. marriage on the other hand, is HARD to challenge. if ppl want to go THAT route, you can pretty much garauntee that the family would look like the bad guys. with POA, all you need is a judge who thinks blood is thicker than water. POA + MARRIAGE LICENSE = the chances of the person's wishes being carried out how THEY wanted WITHOUT familial interference. and THAT'S what's important. :)

while i see your point on polygamy, it's not my thing. i can't see how it can be good for ALL, ALL THE TIME, you know. sure a "regular" marriage isn't a cakewalk, but wouldn't it be easier than polygamy? but if you want to rock it, knock yourself out. :) heck, at the moment, i'd be MORE than wiling to give you my husband! :p

just as long as you're 35 by the time you can be in office (or is it to campaign?), i'd consider voting for you! :)
