Haskell

I'm taking Functional Languages this term, and so I'm starting to learn Haskell.  Learning Haskell when I'm only familiar with languages like C and Java is a bit like learning Chinese when I'd only studied English and Spanish...except more so.  I wouldn't say it harder than learning Chinese, necessarily, but that's because Chinese has more to ( Read more... )

I had a friend in college (a math major) who absolutely loved Haskell. I've never had a chance to actually play with it, but I've done a bit of functional programming in other languages (including XSLT, which is a functional language for transforming XML, written in XML, in case you want to seriously screw with your head ( ... )

I'm liking it a lot so far. It's definitely a different style, but it's not as hard as I thought it would be...not yet, anyway. And it does seem like it would be useful as a different point of view when using other types of languages.
