For a lot of the year, I wondered whether I'd write enough to make it worthwhile doing this. Anyway, let's get the decks cleared:
Stats:
List of Completed Fics (According to AO3)
Total number: 8 Total word count: 8180
Specifics:
Best/worst title?
I don't think there's much to be said for any of them. Fashion Victim is probably the best of a terrible bunch, and Dare the worst (though it does have the slight merit of being easy to type).
Best/worst summary?
I rather like that of If You Go Down To The Woods Today. Worst, at least in terms of effort, are the aforementioned Fashion Victim and Dare which simply repeat the first line of the fic.
Best/worst first line?
It looks as if, this year, most of my fics didn't really get going until the second line. But I Need A Hero is an exception - being a sequence of drabbles, it doesn't have the luxury of delay. The one I like least is Outcast: 'The intercom buzzer sounded.'
Best/worst last line?
Looking over them, I think I put more effort into my last lines than my first lines. My favourite is definitely that of Kids These Days; my least, Outcast, which could do with another round of revision.
General questions:
Looking back, did you write more fics than you thought you would this year, less than you thought, or about what you predicted?
I wasn't sure I'd write anything; 8180 words is about 6% of what I'd consider a full year's writing, but I'm not going to turn my nose up at it.
What pairing/genre/fandom did you write that you would never have predicted last year?
The Haunted House adventure game.
What's your favorite story this year? Not the most popular, but the one that makes you the happiest.
The general cuteness of If You Go Down To The Woods Today.
Okay, NOW your most popular story.
Foretaste, what with it having Yaz and Thirteen.
Story most underappreciated by the universe?
Fashion Victim was the only one to avoid any comments on AO3, but that's because I backdated it, so it didn't really get a fair chance.
Story that could have been better?
As I mentioned, Outcast could do with another pass of revision. And if I were revisiting Dare, I'd have Nyssa add a remark about saving Tegan's life because she hadn't been able to save her father's.
Sexiest story?
Nyssa and Tegan get an actual makeout scene in Dare.
Saddest story?
I Need A Hero ends with Tegan, once again, experiencing emotional burnout. That probably edges it over Zoë's situation at the end of Outcast.
Most fun?
Fashion Victim.
Story with single sweetest moment?
Again, I think this is Jamie and Lucie in If You Go Down To The Woods Today.
Hardest story to write?
I Need A Hero pretty much had to be dragged out, drabble by drabble.
Easiest/most fun story to write?
Dare just fell into place.
Did any stories shift your perceptions of the characters?
No. Though rereading them has made me realise how much I miss Missy.
Most overdue story?
Dare and Outcast were written in November from a July meme, so probably them.
Did you take any writing risks this year? What did you learn from them?
I think the main risks I took were joining in prompt memes and (somewhat to my surprise) coming up with fics from them. Oh, and writing Yaz for the first time, which seemed to work out.
What are your fic writing goals for next year?
There's a Fabulous Investigation I really want to write, a crossover with Agatha Christie.
How did you do on last year's goals?
I didn't set any.
