New video

My friend Paul Snowe once mentioned an idea for a video. As it's his birthday, I prepared the video and uploaded it to YouTube.

It's 1'44. I've been coughing a lot lately and the final few seconds had me laughing and coughing away like a good 'un last night. It is something to my advantage that I can make myself laugh.

Thanks for the approval! Actually, that actually happened as part of the broadcast. Honestly.

Yes, there's no denying that that's the same idea, and done very nicely too.

The original idea Paul had was to showcase how earnestly the presenters who aren't talking look at the camera, nod seriously and smile during the funny bits, all in a very portentous way. I've heard it remarked that this is a method of reinforcing whatever agenda the editorial team want to put across: the audience are being told how to react. Cynical, but possible, I suppose.

My own take on it had much less effort put into it than the marvellous clip above, I imagine, and justifies its existence - just - by going off in an altogether different direction as I start to enjoy messing about - as if it's a record of what's going on in someone's mind as they fall asleep watching the news.

Thanks for the link.

The "breath" video is well done too, and makes a nice point about TV debates. I couldn't watch it very often, though - it makes me want to cough! (Mind you, at the moment, everything makes me want to cough).
