Leo's Check Up

Carter knew Kim was bringing Leo in for a check up with Lester, and caught himself trying to keep an eye out for her. He told himself it was becuase of Leo, because he truly cared aboutthe boy and wanted to check on him and make sure he was doing well. And, some small part of him knew he wanted to see Kim as well. He cared for her, as a friend.

"Yes, but I don't think they'll be much longer. Just a normal check up. I'm afraid Leo's already tired of the cast though and was hoping to get it off today. You should have seen his expression when I told him he had to wait a few more weeks. Remember when that just seemed like forever when you were a kid?"

She smiles and runs a hand through her hair, tucking it behind her ears.

"I do. I fell out of a tree once, trying to impress my brother. I broke my arm. I impressed my brother all right. And I hated that cast. With a passion."

"Leo's not quite at that point yet, but I think he will be soon enough. It doesn't take long for the novelty of that kind of thing to wear off soon enough. So, how have you been lately?"

Carter shrugs. "I'm okay. You know. Some days are harder than others. But I'm getting through. How are you? Settling into the house okay?" He asks softly, with geuine concern.
