The weird thing is that the Me-262, as a tactical bomber, might have done more good for the Luftwaffe than what they eventually got. German industry weathered the shocks of strategic bombing fairly well, but German tanks had absolutely no luck against Allied aircraft outfitted as tank-killers. A high-speed Luftwaffe fighter-bomber could have caused severe damage to massed Allied ground formations in the same way, and, until the Meteor was brought into production, considerably slowed a ground offensive.

Of course this is all in the What If category, so who really knows?
