Singapore has always looked rather clean, well-designed and panoramic. I'd like to go there some day, although I don't think I would like to live there. It also looks very new-I'm not sure if that's a result of the actual design or a reflection of the clarity of the picture.
Thank you. Singapore is new. Most of the top half of the picture was constructed in the last twenty years. I certainly don't remember a lot of those buildings when I was a kid. And even the older buildings have been cleaned up and refurbished considerably in recent years--a rather belated effort on the part of the government to preserve at least some heritage buildings. But yes, you won't find many buildings allowed to show signs of age round here.
I didn't realize the city was quite that young, but twenty years does make sense. It's definitely got better city planning than the US does.
I was thinking of trying to write about a world with a city that was about that new. I might use more of Singapore in creating that city then I originally thought.

I was thinking of trying to write about a world with a city that was about that new. I might use more of Singapore in creating that city then I originally thought.
