Back in the Kingdom, now

New term's about to begin. Got a literature review to write on the decoherent histories interpretation of quantum mechanics--about one-fifth of the way done. The holiday's turned my brain to shit--three months of living easy, and now I keep forgetting things. Important things. Leaving them behind wherever I've put them while I walk away. ( Read more... )

Obviously you are in a decoherent mental state. I suggest frequently measuring your mental state in an attempt to force your wave function to collapse and localize at your present location. Of course, this could backfire and you could end up with your brain in Japan or something, but worse things happen all the time.

Why are you writing a literature review of the Decoherent Histories Interpretation? I sit because Halliwell is at your end (since he seems to have written the most comprehensive summary)?

Ha. I shall do that, and inform you of the result shortly.

Final year project. It's certainly not to fill any gaping void. I need to do a literature review of my assigned project topic for this year, which, unhappily for me, turns out to be beautifully unspecific. To wit:

"The aim of this project is to study this new approach to quantum theory in regard to both its original intent---the resolution of some of the major conceptual problems in standard quantum theory---and also its potential application in the wider context of quantum gravity and quantum cosmology."

That's a bit of a problem, no?
