I figured I might as well post there here too... 
I did a quick piece last night... of a figure flying through the air.  
My intent was to create a portrait of an ascension... 
but then when I went back to it, I saw lots of other figures in the piece...

Every time I look back at it, I see something else...

Very nice! I see what you mean...like seeing things in clouds...every time you look, something else pops up!

The main figure is easy to spot but not annoyingly obvious so the viewer can reference it. Love it. Are you going to mount it on anything to hang it?

This piece has an atmospheric quality with the image not quite inherent/not quite added and the fact that it's wood looking like air has some sort of sensual meaning. (That pulls me in to look more closely and then I see faces emerging -- it reminds me of the classic ascension pieces where the beatified one is surrounded angels witnesse.) I love that juxtaposition of earthy wood and silvery air; it gets me to thinking about elements, materiality and what becomes of us when we die.
