If you have a canker sore, and the analgesic says to take once every four hours, but it only actually works for about half an hour at a time, is it OK to use eight times the recommended dose over the course of a day?

probably not. BUT my brother is a pharmacist and i could ask him, just to make sure you're not going to die because i'm sure you took 8 times the recomended dose whether or not you were supposed to.

Thanks, find out for me! I lived, but I definitely put on way more of that stuff than allowed. Of course, the dentist puts on more ... It felt just like novocaine or something, only a little weaker.

I guess what I wonder isn't so much if I took too much, as if there are consequences to continuous exposure ... like, novocaine at the dentist numbs you, but ten times a day over two days gives you cancer? That would be bad.

So I took a look at a patent for topical analgesics and at the Medline info for benzocaine, which is what I'm assuming you're taking ( ... )
