Coraline is good, but drop the 3D

My family and I had the chance to see a movie the first time in Forever. It was either Coraline, which I wanted to see after reading the book ages ago, or Hotel for Dogs ( Read more... )

I like Neil Gaiman very much, but I have found pacing to be an issue in almost all of his stuff--I think that he is very visual and is used to storyboarding as opposed to the flow of prose, and I believe it very much shows in his novels, although the more he writes, the more he improves.

Stardust is a huge Wham Bam Thank You Ma'am in both versions. But it's true, Gaiman gets better all the time.

We haven't taken the kids to see this yet as we're waiting for it to move to the dollar theatre >_>
