You are not helping to divert me from buying the latest Pokemon whatever. I've bought - and beaten - one of every single freaking generation since the GBC. It's sad. I bought Pokemon Diamond at the midnight release. I don't know why, I HATE the show.

Also, defeating your rival is always a deep joy. That one, Leaf, was always particularly douchetacular.

I dabbled a bit in the original GB games - I have Pokemon Yellow around here somewhere - but I never got far enough to finish.

Pearl was the first one I played beginning to end, and I did Leaf Green just for a) curiousity, and b) to eventually Catch 'Em All (without cheating, at least).

I'm actually curious to see what the other GBA games are like - but I'm Pokemon'ed out. I've got a copy of Dragon Quest IV and Final Fantasy XII/A2 with my name on it to play now.

Either way, the guy in Pokemon the original - talk about a dick. At least in Pearl/Diamond he redeems himself. I'm curious about the Emerald/Sapphire one (if that's the other GBA one).

I'm going to pick up Platinum when it comes out. <( ._.)>

So should I pick Piplup or Turtwig, because I picked the monkey on the first one and I am not repeating myself. :V

I'd go for Piplup, but as I recall the last trainers were fire/magma type, so having a high level water type makes that a breeze.

That is, if I remember right. I'll be getting Platinum too and handing down my Pearl to the children.
