I know I owe you an entry from yesterday, but hey I was zonked! Up at 4:30 AM and on the move till nearly 8 PM, in fact. If I can figure out how to get LJ to backdate as it once did, I'll post that piece later. For now, I have a couple of other matters to address.
First, as you all know, I continue to serve on the board of the Norrie Disease

I do hope you get to come to Cincinnati! I know you took a train this weekend, you might check on that possibility, as there's a train station right downtown in Cincinnati. I hope you get to come, if you do and your schedule isn't too packed maybe we can meet up for a meal or something. It's an hour drive for me, but I'm sure I could manage it once while you're there :)

I've looked into that. The automated system said there wasn't an easy way for me to connect between Durham, NC and Cincinnati. I guess I could try and see if an agent could cobble something together. That's the one thing I don't like about the train though, it doesn't offer much in the way of flexibility. Hopefully I'll still get to come out there, and before I do we can see if some time can be worked in to meet. That would be cool indeed.

Yeah, my friend is coming out via train this summer from California and I think he has to make 6 separate connections, the Amtrak website can't handle it so he has to call every time.

He always arrives at like 3am though, because the train coming from Chicago only comes in at that hour. He seems to enjoy the trip, though.

It's a shame the system hasn't kept the rails in good repair and pushed travel by train more, with the gas prices these days it would make a lot more sense if more people could easily travel that way.
