Linux is good for all sorts of legal and gray area things, plus you can program in any language without having to get the compliers and such like you have to do with windows cuz linux already has them, plus a whole lotta other things, and a lot of the cg in movies are done with linux machines....

Most good CG unfortunately comes from MACs or SGI computers. And yeah Linux has interpreters for C, C++ and Pascal and such, but damn I’d rather deal in Visual C++ than C. Much easier to deal with.
I do like that Linux is (for the most part) free but still. I have yet to see it's true positive factors over Windows. and I come from a DOS background so I know command lines, thats not the problem I have with it. the problem I have with Linux is that most people are used to Windows machines, and the way windows acts. I can do everything I need to do on windows, so other than to get experience with a UNIX type system for companies that use it for cost reasons, what good is it. :)
Linux/Windows Debate will outlast nuclear holocost, along with cockroaches....theicemancomethSeptember 2 2002, 18:22:33 UTC
well its very good security wise, lot easier to hack into a machine running windows than it is to hack a machine running linux, and once you get used to running linux, its the same familiarity as it is with windows. also if you download or buy everything for windows that's equivalent to what comes with the linux OS, you'll save disk space (by a few hundred megs) with linux. you can run windows programs on a linux machine and in fact you can run windows inside the linux OS. That way you'd have the stability and security of linux and the familiarity and user friendliness of windows. its really just a user preference though, each OS has its pros and cons, and those differ with the type of user that you are. The debate between windows/linux could last forever, in fact, some people get very arguementative about it. Me-well, I just use both because I want to know them both, never know when I may need it. and as far as cost is concerned, I've got several windows os that cost me nothing but the cd I burned them to. All boils down to

yeah, but running one OS inside another just makes it that much slower on the draw. there is one thing that linux has going for itself, It's free. oh well, oh i got a little message for you...
I lost Richard to the cutness of Windows XP...damn the cute things. It is taking over the world- cute tings on a rampage and no one can do anything about it because it is so CUTE! Then again we have people like you who shoot cute things for the fun of it...poor cute things. Ha!
There is a reason for the "XP". Because XD was a happy face and the XP gave you the raspberry.
