Umbrella Academy is pretty sweet. I have the first issue of the second volume, but I may just wait until I have all of them to read it. I got Black Dossier when it came out but still haven't read it (because I'm a loser). However, I just recently re-read all of DMZ to the present (highly recommended) and Ex Machina (meh). I brought Miracleman out of the vaults to re-read...can't wait to get into that. Annnnndddddd that's about it for Nerd Update 12/08 Edition.
i thought ex machina was kind of lackluster..... i guess its neat they tried to blend the political with the super-hero....but it came off a little preachy... quasi-liberal political thrillers are to Ex Machina as quasi-right adventure-fantasies are to Fables
i still haven't read miracleman. likewise DMZ. who wrote them?
Yeah, I agree. Mixing politics and superheroics seems like it could be interesting, but in the case of Ex Machina, it's not. It just comes off (to me) as a mediocre superhero book. But christ, now that I've bought and read 40 issues of the damn thing, I guess I'll finish it
