I'm going to San Francisco next in a month to sell postcards i made at the bay area anarchist book fair. my understanding is that its the largest one in the hemisphere. i had to negotiate a little with the people that run it and i'm fairly certain i've been talking to a guy from the Long Haul infoshop in berkeley that gave me a place to crash on ( Read more... )

perhaps it was part of an essentially rhetorical diatribe on your part, but you casually mention the concept of "true justice" as something that is easily quantifiable, that if one were able to possess "perfect knowledge" it could then be delivered. i'm of the opinion that there is no true justice or perfect knowledge (when it comes to the actions of others and their consequences), and that we are forced to forever flounder as societies and citizens, creating systems to counteract ills based on a contrived idea of right and wrong. vigilantism would only serve as another arm of the same.....

i'm going to finish writing this when i get another break from work.

and let me know dates for your SF trip, so i can visit.

yeah. i think you're right that the concept of justice is defined by whatever society writes the law, and then further by whomever in that society has the means to write said law. The only thing that makes it just is that everyone has to follow it with no exceptions (regardless of class, money, etc).
i suppose i was musing on the fact that with the existence of things like class and wealth and influence, there can't be justice for everyone and you can't depend on gov't or the police to deliver it.
Even Lex Luthor fucked up metropolis on a daily basis and superman would just destroy the robot or whatever and let luthor go.
i definitely agree that perfect knowledge only exist with god-like characters (like batman and superman) and can't exist here without super fucking brutal police-state surveillance (like batman's cellphone tower).

I'll be in San Francisco March 12-15.
