Of all of the places that I thought would have caught my interest, the Balkans were never a strong contender. I have no family connections there the way I do in Ireland and Germany, they were never in the heart of Europe (most of the Balkan states are still not in the EU), and other than Greece and Romania I never had any real interest in any of

I read the whole post. Very interesting information. I don't know much about the Balkans aside from the wars and genocides. :[ so i really enjoyed hearing your perspective. Serbia and Bulgaria sound like great places, I wish I could come visit!
