New things in my life: I am eating redskins. I am getting into becoming rapidly, heavily obsessed with True Blood. I have three redskins to nom while I get while my next True Blood dose (and more in the kitchen).

Average Cats. Not LOLcats. Just average cats.

It is partly all you and Ren's talk about it on twitter that made me take the plunge. I mean, I'd been thinking about it before, but I didn't think I'd fall into it so quickly and so completely. Eeep! Though now my SPN DL has almost finished and I AM FORCED TO CHOOSE BETWEEN THE TWO OF THEM. OMG I CANNOT! HALP!

I don't think either of us really knew what we were in for, addiction-wise. Don't think we would have started, had we known ;-)

Ha ha! I was going to introduce my sweetie to it too, but then I just couldn't stop watching and couldn't wait! Wups. We do enjoy Twilol - for the lulz - and True Blood seems like the perfect anti!Twilol vampire saga. Oh boy, the sex! Heh! ... I mean, what is a vampire story without sex??! A crappy one, that's what! ;-)

SPONGEDOG!!!!

Also, I'm averse to True Blood. Mostly because my dad tried to shove it down my throat shortly after my sister-in-law tried to shove Twilight down my throat, and they both seem to involve teenage girls mooning over really old vampire guys who do all the ass-kicking, which is like the opposite of my kinks. (I like my pairings to be at broadly similar stages in terms of adulthood, I like my female characters to kick ass and not leave the impressive physical stuff to guys, and really old vampire guys don't make me tingly).

This was followed by my dad's "You know, I bet you could make a lot of money off a formulaic 'Teenage girl with vampire boyfriend' novel", which I think was an excuse to get me to read the books True Blood was based on (he got the whole set) as 'research'.

I know what you mean about the cliched 'girl with vampire boyfriend' thing. Sookie in True Blood differs only in some minor points - she is 25. And she can take care of herself, she does some arse-kicking herself. I find her and Bill (the vampire) more similar to Buffy and Angel, than the Twilol couple. I'm amazed by how the massive age gap is glossed over in most of these things. And how it's always young-white-human-girl/older-white-male-vampire. *sigh ( ... )

The shoving makes things worse, yeah. I think I might have been more willing to give True Blood a try under different circumstances.

I expect I'll be a massive letdown when we do meet. I pretty much look nothing like how people imagine me (except for having the correct number of heads and all). But I'm fun when I've relaxed a bit and we're hanging out.

Not sure where I'll be in January. In February, my parents want me to visit in the US, and work is talking about sending me to Vanuatu. Before that, I'm likely to be in Papaua New Guinea and Guam and places. Possibly Kiribati at one point. I have much travel.

Do you like all the travel? Are you all shiny and corporate and sleek and good at talking to strangers?! (My cousin travels a lot with her job and that's what she's like!) For some reason I imagined you were more scruffy. But then maybe that's because I am more scruffy! You should come to Melbourne and come to a roller derby bout with us!! (I could just be saying that because I just saw Whip It!)

Possibly Kiribati at one point - I misread that as Kirribilli - which is where the Aussie PM lives in Sydney. I was all "oh yeah? Wolfy's down the K. Rudd?!" ;)

Correct number of heads? Oh... ok. *tries to hide disappointment* And correct number of ... tentacles?

is a redskin the same as a potato skin? mythstothebank October 10 2009, 05:12:25 UTC
lol That poor Dorothy Dog though: there goes what's left of his dignity.

Did you hear? There is a kitten in my house! He is adorable and no-one is dressing him up in anything; he would probably murder us in our sleep.

Stick with SPN BB- I need someone to squee with me :) *whispers* Dean/Castiel: you know you want it!

these are redskins. What is a potato skin - apart from the skin of a potato? ;P

A KITTEN OMG! ARE YOU KEEPING HIM? WHAT DOES SIERRA SAY? WILL WE SEE PICTURES (CAN YOU BORROW A CAMERA?)?! :D :D :D KITTENS!

I will no doubt stick with SPN and become obsessed with True Blood as well. I've stuck with SPN so far, can't turn back now. *curses show* Oh, I want Dean/Castiel. I am here for the squee - don't worry!

mmmm candy. I keep seeing 'Australian-style licorice' at the grocery store. I have no idea how it's different from Canadian licorice, it's made of ground up kangaroos but I'll have to try it one of these days. Sierra is deeply unimpressed by the presence of Scotty the Kitten. Scotty belongs to the woman on the floor beneath me, so he is here to stay.

I'm going to my folk's place for Thanksgiving tomorrow, so I'll see if I can talk my dad into letting me borrow his camera. Speaking of photographs, I have a wee grad pic if you'd like one. I can send it with your scandalous firemen calendar ;P

Has my package come yet? It was supposed to arrive around the second week of October....

Yay for the SPN. My brain is making an SPN fanmix, all without my bidding or permission. I just wish I had the tech to come up with spiffy artwork for it.
