Hi, I saw your post on Asam and I thought perhaps you could use some advice. I replied but it's old so I don't know if you'll see my post. Anyway, I'm a white female and my boyfriend is Chinese American. You mentioned that your girlfriend doesn't think your parents like her, and I know what she's feeling because I felt the same way. Even though I've dated just about every nationality you could think of (guys and girls) I've dealt with the most problems dating him. His parents are very traditional, although his father was born in San Francisco, his mother was born in Canton, China

but caitlin and i havent ran into too many cultural problems, other than the fact that her parents are very talkative with me and are very interested with my life as where my parents are similar to your bfs parents; resevered, quiet, serious, and not too talkative to her. And she takes that personally, when i try to explain to her that she shouldnt and its not because my parents done like her at all. Its just the way they are.

throughout our relationship we've realized that we do some things and deal with things differently because of our cultures but we've worked all threw that. Though i'm happy to say that our relationship overall does not involve lots of conversations about our differences in culture. Caitlin is very interested in my culture and asian culture in general so that obviously helps and makes things easier when I know she accepts who i am and what i am about.

haha...friends only, i would say the same for myself except, i haven't familiarize myself enough with many lj users...so it would be pointless for me to keep everything private.

wanna know a fun fact? aha, you and i have the same middle name. (thai?) except yours flows better with your whole name. yup...haha i get excited about those kinds of things.

boston is sweet! except for the cold and the winters (not a fan of it). but i love the city and its culture and everything about the city (minus the stupid drivers and potholes and numerous construction).

its an amazing city with everything you need.
