A new friend recently asked me what I did and what I was interested in...I kind of left out the lifestyle stuff and focused on school, but I thought it came out rather well. I'm curious if anyone has any thoughts or recommendations of contemporary queer theorists/openly trans faculty in any university (though I would be most interested in talking

I think your goal of educating others is right on - if there's a whole community left out of the conversation.

You've probably already looked into this, but there may be some like-minded educational programs at Mills. They also have the Helen Carroll Award:

"Awarded to a faculty, staff or student for dedication to securing equal rights and combating discrimination of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people."
