The big secret to tell what party you agree with... Do you want more government in your life? If you answered yes, grats you're a democrat, if you answered no, you're a republican. That and abortion are pretty much the biggest divider for the average american.
If you want a more moderate delineation, the biggest difference between the two parties is that democrats want to tax from the rich and give to the poor to benefit the largest number of people. (Note: rich means top 1% of income) The republicans want to let the free market do whatever it wants, and whoever falls by the wayside deserves what they get.
Socially, the difference is that democrats are in favor of letting people make their own choices about their life, republicans want to ban anything they themselves would not do.

That's a great concept on paper for the democrats, but has there been any real life stories or actions of this actually happening with any democratic president? Again I don't follow politics but it seems kind of like a dream world for this to actually happen to benefit the majority as a whole. But it does remind me of a statement on the quiz, "The economy is only as strong as the weakest indivigual" which I really like that concept and agreed with it

A few examples, actually. It was a Democrat (LBJ) who instituted Medicare. We almost had universal healthcare under the Clinton administration in 1993, but it was blocked by the Republicans, who had the majority in both houses (this election, the democrats will control both houses). Also Clinton (as he was the last democrat, I feel it is a good example) signed into law the Taxpayer Relief Act of 1997 which gave families tax credits for having children, but those tax credits are not given to high-income families. Naturally, there are many more examples
