The adverts on TV which are about mystery and mysticism, togetherness and belonging, being part of something greater than yourself - in short the ones which are, to me at least, the most moving and powerful and heart rending to the point that I desperately want to like whatever it is they're advertising ... are all for stupid things like cars, or

What I wonder is, are they right in this particular case, and, if they are, is this a new trend of what connects with people, and, if so, does it indicate an emerging or growing issue in our society at the moment which presents in a feeling of disconnectedness, and, if so, what relation does this issue have to the way our society is being run and our lives are being lived at the present time and what conclusions can be drawn from that.
