Today I was at COSTCO and got stuck behind to people who were clustered around one of the sample stands.

First lady was hand feeding her three children (est. ages, 11, 10, and 9).  Second gentleman watched his two daughters strip the tray of salmon on rice crackers, three times.  I finally cleared my throat and made a shooing gesture and the ( Read more... )

Nothing much left but agreeing with prior posters. It's people like that that think I hate children (when really they are quite yummy if caught young and prepared right), when it's really the adults that need to be taken out to the woodshed. You where politer than I would like to think I would have been.

I would have said "Excuse Me, I need to get through" way before the second round of crackers. Or, said to the kids "Hey, guys, can you let me through here?" right away. I know sometimes people are afraid to talk to or interact with kids and expect their (sometimes ill behaved) parents to manage them instead, but I find that treating them like humans often works best.

darn it knew I would miss the fun by not going... according to my mood I probably would have replied "so you spent all your money on your costco membership and come here for samples for your supper now. Now if it was at the end of the sample shift day I can see the worker bee trying to get rid of the stuff already opened... I would have not even talked to the kids except for the excuse me part. The rest would have been directed at the parental units. But then I'm in the limbo land of kid out of the house and not a granparental unit...
