Alright, so here’s what I’ve worked up so far about time travel. The last few books I’ve read have featured time travel in some instance or another, I’ve briefly gone over what Einstein and Hawking have to say on it, I’ve read numerous comics based on similar theories and home-spun ones, and I love Doctor Who. None of this makes me ( Read more... )

My favorite argument against time travel is Newton's 2nd Law of Thermodynamics - loosely stated: Entropy Increases.

Of course, if you can prove that the universe isn't a closed system, then you get an exemption from the EI law and now we're in a totally different ballpark. But as I can't prove it and I doubt anyone alive can, we'll assume a closed system subject to Newton's 2nd Law. Especially since even the Doctor said, "Good old Issac, there was no limit to his genius." And the Doctor wouldn't be wrong.

Assume you could travel backwards in time. Then you could return to a state of the universe where the level of chaos is less than the current level. This means that, for you, entropy decreased. >< => No time travel backwards ( ... )
