I last met John in London for a drink during 2003. We used to contact/meet up every 18 months or so. He looked a bit thin but assured me it wasn't the big C - typical John. We used to work (drink) together in the GLC/ILEA. Although our recent meetings were few and far between, I'll miss him terribly. I never met any of his family or were in contact with them, although he used to talk about them often. Before he became the photographer and mentor known to you all, he had earned respect from heaps of people in London because of his other skills and his sense of justice and anti-bullshit. It was only after he gave up his day job that I found out he was a good photographer. His other achievements are immense.

John still in our memories anonymous July 2 2007, 12:22:59 UTC
I just have to say how overjoyed I am that John's photos are still up here four years on! What a wonderful surprise to find them here again after I remembered him earlier today and wanted to send the links on to some people I know.

I hope allcomers to the site continue to be wowed by this site and the delight he took in these photos.
Contact me if you want. I don't take photos like he does, though I accompanied him on days out, and my love of nature is deep and spiritual as John's was.

Peace to you all

Tash
