Slept in this morning, wish I hadn't. Missed an 8AM txt about a no-show mascot that they needed a replacement for. Dang, I could have suited up today!
So, last night I went to a Braves game. (Yay, company seats!)
TL;DR: Jason Upton hit a solo home run to win the game against the Nationals in the 10th, 3-2.
I just bought a new camera last week, a Sony Cybershot DSC-HX30V. If my old Powershot A95 were Woody, the Cybershot would be Buzz Lightyear: 18.2MP, 20X optical, GPS, WiFi, and a totally-unnecessary 3D mode. (I would have bought the HX10V, but Amazon had an open box deal on the deluxe model!) The game was an opportunity to put the camera through its paces.
Jason Heyward at 3rd, as seen from my seat
As seen above, the long zoom and image stabilization worked brilliantly. From my seat near home dugout, I was able to frame some nice shots deep into the outfield. I used the wifi feature to beam a panorama to my phone,
which I posted to Twitter.
"Friday Night Fireworks" at Turner Field is a thing, so I stayed after the game to watch.
Camera even had a special mode for fireworks
I still need a little practice getting used to the difference in shutter lag, but I'm pretty sure that this camera will work wonders at Dragon*Con.
