Sample letter to the director of the prison:
Dear director of PI Lelystad,
Through this letter we d like to share our concerns about the current state
of one of your prisoners, Roberto Catrino Lopez.
We have understood that this man doesn t receive an adequate treatment of
the illness symptoms that are a result of his HIV disease. He d like to have
access to his medical files, but that s being made impossible by several
doctors. For Roberto Catrino Lopez it s very important to receive his files
as to demand a proper medical treatment. Currently his immune system is very
low, because of his disease, and for this he needs to be treated by a
reliable doctor that examines him instead of working against him. Apart from
this we ve heard that Roberto Catrino Lopez is currently in an isolation
cell. This situation needs to change immediately. For a person in this state
of health such a solitary confinement can have deadly consequences.
We d like to remind you that Roberto Catrino Lopez has been in a life
threathening situation by the faulty treatment of a double pneumonia. Don t
let this happen again!
A prisoner with an uncureable disease needs a humane treatment in a loving
environment. We d like to request the earlyl release of this man for
humanitarian reasons and to let him relieve his suffering together with his
family in Catalonia. Prolonging the detention of an incureable sick person
doesn t longer serve any purpose to society. But most of all we demand an
immediate medical treatment and full transparency about his situation.
Roberto Catrino Lopez is on hungerstrike until the demands mentioned above
are met. We d be very disappointed if his life is in danger because PI
Lelystad is failing to treat a sick person.
