I realized what is actually bothering me about the news of Bin Laden's assassination. As a Catholic, I should be (and largely am) against the death penalty, and personally I think it is tragic and racist and sick. I think we had a legitimate argument that he was essentially the commander of an enemy army and therefore a legitimate target, as they say, but I sorta feel they gave that up when they decided to treat the gtmo detainees legally as criminals, not POWs. But I personally don't have any qualms about OBL's death.

I don't know if I'd say qualms, just a lot of sadness. I don't think a reasonable person would doubt he was responsible for 9/11, it's just- it seems very vigilante, rather than justice.

The legality of almost all killings escapes me, to be honest.
