“No, a little to the left… Now right… No, no go left a teeny tiny bit.”
“Yixing, I swear to G-“
“JUST PUT THE TREE WHERE I SAY TO PUT IT!”
Kris went deathly still, left eyebrow twitching for a moment before sighing and taking a step to the left. “Why do I put up with you?” He mumbled under his breath, setting the tree down and standing back to pull a handful of needles out of his skin.
“Because I’ve been your friend longer than anyone and only I know what happened between you and Luhan at the Halloween party.”
The handful of Christmas lights and garland fell to the floor in a heap as Kris spun around. “You promised you would never bring that up again! It wasn’t my fault he was drunk and had a vampire fetish! I would never have worn that stupid costume if I had known he was going to jump on me and beg me to bite him.”
Yixing grinned as he helped his best friend gather the lights off the floor and start to untangle them. “I’m not telling anyone, I just like to rattle you.” He reached over and pinched Kris on the cheek. “You didn’t have to actually do it though.”
Kris threw him off with a roar and stormed out of the living room. “I was drunk, too!”
---
“Do we really have to go to Yixing’s party?” Chen dragged his feet forcing his boyfriend to pull him along. “Let’s go to the movies instead. We can sit in the back and maybe I’ll blow you.”
Suho sputtered at the innocent words and turned his red face back to the street. “Yes, we have to go. I promised Yixing and he’s expecting us. Now be a good boy while we’re there, okay Chen? Or do I have to remind you of the brunch at Sehun and Tao’s last spring?”
“They served oysters that looked like vaginas, Suho! Vaginas. Va-gi-nas.” Chen smiled at the memory. “They were really good, too. I wonder if they’ll have them at the next brunch.”
“Not after you turned them all sideways and licked obscenely at them.”
Chen waggled his tongue playfully at him. “You would never expect me to be a oystergina master, huh? I got skills you would never expect, baby.”

Chanyeol held tightly to Kyungsoo’s arm, never noticing the grimace of pain on his roommates face. “And then he ordered a half-caf, double Americano with three shots of hazelnut syrup and two creams and he normally orders a half-caf, single Americano with one shot of hazelnut syrup and one cream so I asked him why h-“
He broke off with a scream of pain as Kyungsoo suddenly jumped onto his foot and grinded his heel into his toes. “For the nine hundredth time, Chanyeol. I don’t care one iota what Baekhyun orders from you every morning. I don’t care that yesterday he parted his hair to the left or that he on September thirteenth he forgot to zip his pants and you saw he had on green underwear. I don’t care, I don’t care, I don’t care!”
The wounded look on his friend’s face would normally make him backtrack and apologize but Kyungsoo was tired after working a double shift at the restaurant the day before just so he would be off tonight for Yixing’s Christmas party. So Chanyeol was bearing the brunt of Kyungsoo’s exhaustion and Kyungsoo was sick of hearing about Baekhyun.
“It was September nineteenth…” Chanyeol muttered, massaging his sore foot. “And they were hunger green. Green is a very broad color, Kyungsoo.”
The next stomp he admits he probably deserved.

Kai was mopey when Luhan opened the door to his apartment to pick him up. He was mopey when they met Baekhyun at the train station. And he was still mopey when they entered the mall to find a last minute gift for him and Baekhyun’s Secret Santa presents.
“You’re gonna step on your lip if you stick it out any further.” Luhan informed him, reaching for a bottle of cologne to test. He curled his lip and grabbed at another. “What’s crawled up your ass today?”
“I still haven’t bought Kyungsoo anything and the party starts in an hour.” He banged his head against the glass counter and groaned. “He’s going to think I put if off because I’m an asshole when I really really looked hard for something to get him!”
Baekhyun turned the tag around on a satchel and grimaced at the price. “How did you manage to get Kyungsoo anyways? Who’d you have to bribe to get him?”
He felt a smile creep onto his lips. “I overheard Yixing telling Kris he needed an idea for Kyungsoo’s gift so I asked to switch with him. Mine was an easier one anyways.”
“Who’d you have?” Luhan had given up on the search for cologne and had his phone out. “Oh my god, this fanfic I’ve been reading got updated. Forget it, I don’t care who you had. I’m going to go wait for you guys in the food court and read this.”
Kai watched him go and turned to Baekhyun with a smirk. “I traded Luhan’s name for Kyungsoo’s.”
“You mean Yixing has Luhan now?” Baekhyun whistled under his breath as he moved to the clearance section. “He’s still pissed about the Halloween party when Luhan was flirting with Kris all night. Something happened after we left because Luhan showed up with a black eye the next day. I still say Yixing socked him. Don’t ever get between Yixing and Kris, lesson to the masses.”
“We need to shove them two in a closet with a pack of condoms and some lube.”
“And a gag. Yixing looks like a screamer.”

The phone hadn’t left Tao’s ear in the last two hours and he was starting to get a hand cramp from holding it up. “Don’t let me forget to buy a new Bluetooth.” He hissed at Sehun as they waited for a taxi to take them to their hotel. “I know it was Chanyeol that lost it. He’s always taking my things and never returning them.”
Sehun didn’t answer, his eyes glued to the iPad in his hands.
“Yes, yes of course we’ll be back in Paris before the next show.” Tao waved at a taxi and shoved Sehun forward to get his attention. “There’s no reason to worry, Mr. Woo. I just needed two days off for family things and we’ll be right back. Thank you.”
He hung up and settled back into his seat with a pout. “You probably forgot to schedule our massages, right?”
Sehun hummed in reply as he flicked his finger across the screen and pumped his fist as he finally cleared the Angry Birds level he had been working on for the last two days.
“Why do I like you again?”
“Because I buy you everything you ask for and I’m too busy to cheat on you?”
Tao nodded. “That’s it. Thanks for reminding me.”
“You’re welcome.” Sehun cracked his knuckles and settled back into the dirty taxi seat, too tired to care that it hadn’t been properly sanitized. “Now let’s get this party over with so we can go back to Paris. I’m dying for a baguette.”
---
“I can’t think of anything to buy my Secret Santa.” Xiumin flopped his head against the stationary store’s window and groaned into the phone. “Can I just give money?”
“Yixing said if anyone gives money again then they’ll be uninvited to Kris’s birthday party. Remember last year when Chanyeol gave everyone 5,000 won and told us not to spend it all in one place?” Kyungsoo’s voice sounded strained over the receiver.
Xiumin forced himself back upright and turned towards the clothing store across the street. “Do you think just a generic t-shirt or sweater will work?”
Kyungsoo sighed and mumbled to Chanyeol to go sit on a bench and be a good boy and wait for him. “Who did you get?”
“I’m not supposed to tell you! Yixing said that-“
“Yeah, yeah. Yixing’s a hardcore Christmas asshole. Just tell me. It’s not me or you wouldn’t be bugging me so much. Maybe I can help.”
Xiumin reached into his pocket for a piece of gum and hoped the rhythmic chewing would keep him calm as the minutes until the party were quickly running down to zero. “I got Kai.”
“Kai?” Kyungsoo sounded surprised. “I would think he would be easy.”
Of course everyone else would think the others were easy. It was only the one that you drew that wound up being the hard one…
“Well he’s not.” Xiumin spat angrily. “I’m just going to get him a gift certificate to the mall. He can go to any store he wants that way.”
“A massage.” Kyungsoo jumped in with a knowing tone. “Kai’s always complaining his muscles hurt from taking so many dance classes. A gift certificate to a spa would be something he could really use.”
Oh. Well yeah… That should have been easy. Kai took hours of dance every week so he had to have a sore body and achy muscles. He’d known Kai since grade school whereas Kyungsoo only joined their group two years ago when he became Chanyeol’s roommate. It almost made him feel guilty that Kyungsoo had known Kai better than he had.
“Thanks, I’ll go run and buy one before they close!” Xiumin slid his phone into his pocket and took off for the bus stop, hoping he could make it to the spa across town and back in time for Yixing’s party.

The tree was finally in the right spot and the three presents under it were arranged to exactly the perfect position. Yixing stood back and eyed the rest of the living room and kitchen, wanting it to be as cheery and holiday themed as possible.
“Who’s the other present for?” Kris snagged a beer out of the fridge as a reward for dealing with Yixing’s feng shui shit for the last four hours. “One’s mine and one’s yours. Did you get two gifts for your Secret Santa partner?”
Yixing was still glancing around the room, his hands making a camera shape over his eyes. “No, it’s yours.” He mumbled back distractedly. “I didn’t draw your name but I wanted to get you something, too.”
Kris coughed into his beer, the drink getting caught in his throat along with his surprise. “Oh. Well then. Thank you?” He looked down at the miniature box on the side of the tree and could almost make out his name scrawled across the snowflake patterned nametag.
“I think we need bigger balls.”
This time the drink didn’t even make it down his throat, instead splattering across the room at Yixing’s blasé words.
“What?”
Yixing’s eyes slid teasingly towards him as he motioned towards the tree. “For the tree, Kris. Bigger balls for the tree. And I spent two hours this morning steam cleaning this carpet so you better clean that up.”
---
Sehun spluttered, his face contorting into one he would probably be ashamed about as tight arms were suddenly squeezed around his belly and he was spun around.
“Please put him down.” Tao messed with a lock of hair that had fallen down and frowned into his reflection in the store’s window. “He’s lactose intolerant and the airplane only had real dairy creamer so I’m not to be held responsible if he throws up all over you.”
Chen gagged as he dropped Sehun back to his feat ungracefully. “Please don’t yack all over my sweater. Suho got it for me.”
“I can tell.” Sehun rubbed his stomach with a grimace. “That’s last year’s colors.”
He looked down at his Christmas sweater, pulling a loose thread off. “How can red and green be last year’s colors?”
Tao sighed and unbuttoned his trench coat to reveal a cream colored cashmere sweater with snowflakes made of pale gold thread. “Silver and gold are in for Christmas this year. Don’t you read my monthly newsletters? I give you all individual tips!”
“It’s nice to see you both again.” Suho broke in before Chen could inform Tao that his monthly newsletters went straight to the delete folder. “How was Paris?”
The two sighed dramatically at the same time. “Oh you know how France is at Christmastime. All touristy and overdone.”
“No actually we don’t.” Suho dug his elbow into Chen’s side to shut him up. “Unfortunately we’re both still trying pay off our student loans so no vacations in our future.”
Sehun reluctantly let Chen wrap an arm around his pea coat as they walked the final few blocks to Yixing’s apartment. “How is Kris? I haven’t seen him since the Halloween party and Yixing screamed at him and called him a slut all night.”
“Still pretending he’s not completely in love with Yixing.” Suho subtly pulled his boyfriend out from under Sehun’s arm and into his own. “I swear every time I see him he gets more and more pitiful.”
“Yixing had a date a few weeks ago.” The other three all look at Chen in shock. “Yes, he tells me things! Don’t look so surprised!”
Tao huffed haughtily and motioned for him to continue. “And? What happened? Does Kris know?”
Chen shrugged, stopping when they reached Yixing’s building. “They went out once, Yixing said he was boring and they never spoke again. I doubt Kris knows or we’d all get the sobbing phone calls like that time Yixing went home for his mom’s birthday and stayed a month.”
“Pitiful.” Suho repeated.
No one disagreed with him.
---
“Take him.” Kyungsoo’s face was scarily calm and everyone knew that was just the calm before the storm. “Take him before I tear him apart limb by limb.”
Luhan cautiously pulled Chanyeol behind him and petted him on top of his fluffy hair. “You two been waiting long?”
Kyungsoo’s head snapped towards him and they all took a step backwards in response. “We were supposed to meet outside the subway stop at seven on the dot. It is now,” He checked his watch with a growl. “Seven twenty. Do you see my problem, Luhan?”
Obviously that extra twenty minutes with Chanyeol was enough to make Kyungsoo homicidal.
“We had to rush to finish off one present.” Baekhyun and Luhan looked pointedly at a blushing Kai who was holding a large wrapped present in his arms. “We still have ten minutes to get there. It’s just two blocks away.”
They took off at a light jog towards Yixing’s apartment building, the three boys wisely keeping a buffer between Kyungsoo and Chanyeol. Kai pushed his way towards the front and beside Kyungsoo, a grin on his thick lips.
“You look nice tonight, Kyungsoo!” A grunt was his only response so Kai tried again. “It’s such a pretty night. I hope it snows!”
“Snow means I might be snowed in and that means stuck in the apartment with Chanyeol all day.” Wide, predatory eyes flashed at him and Kai slunk back in fear. “Are you trying to jinx me, Kai?”
He shook his head. “N-No.” They reached Yixing’s building and all five of them breathed a sigh of relief.
They heard yelling from across the street and turned to see Xiumin excitedly rushing towards them, narrowing missing the oncoming cars as he crossed the street without looking. “Hey guys! Man, I’m glad I’m not the only one running late. Yixing would kill me.”
His cheeks were flushed with exertion and his eyes were bright as they fell on Luhan’s face. Luhan pretended not to notice and followed Baekhyun through the revolving front door.
“This party better not be better than mine was.” Chanyeol complained as they waited for the elevator. “I’ll never hear the end of it from Yixing. He’s already talked about making our Christmas parties a regular thing at his apartment.”
They all had dubious expressions on their faces behind Chanyeol’s back. His Christmas party was held in him and Kyungsoo’s apartment but Kyungsoo had to work overtime all week and couldn’t help plan it. So the night consisted of sharing a bottle of soju and two twelve-packs of beer and the only Christmas CD he had was a Chipmunk one.
They had waited until Chanyeol had pathetically passed out off of his three shots of soju and one beer and decided as a group that he wasn’t to be allowed in charge of any more parties.
---
Yixing greeted the last group of newcomers with a happy dimpled grin and an appetizer tray of bacon-wrapped weenies.
“Already better than Chanyeol’s party and we haven’t even taken our shoes off yet.” Luhan muttered to Baekhyun earning a glare from Kyungsoo. It was okay when he talked badly about his roommate but he got a little defensive when other people did it.
“Just put all your presents under the tree and grab a drink!” Yixing pointed to the cooler lying beside the fridge and the five boys all groaned happily as they fought each other to be the first one to it.
Tao and Sehun sat side by side on the couch and both tsked at the same time.
“Such animals.” Sehun took a drink of his champagne and mentally imagined what a baguette and a latte would taste like on his tongue at that moment.
“So violent.” Tao watched enviously as Baekhyun emerged with a wine cooler and a plate of cheese and meat kebabs. He had been put on a diet because Sehun thought his shirts were getting a little tighter around his waist. There was a good chance he could kick Baekhyun’s legs out from under him and snatch the kebabs right out of his weak little grip.
Kris was stretched awkwardly across Yixing’s tiny armchair, both legs straight out in front of him and hands clenched tightly around his third bottle of beer.
“Kris your giant feet are in the way.” Yixing scolded, shoving them out of the floor. “I swear you get bigger every time you come over.”
With a snort Chen opened his mouth to inform Yixing that that probably wasn’t the only thing that got bigger when Kris visited, but Suho clamped a hand over his mouth before he could speak.
It took almost three hours for the drinks to dwindle down and the kitchen table full of appetizers and desserts to come to just crumbs and empty toothpicks. Kris wondered if maybe he should have said no to the seventh beer, but Luhan had shoved it into his hands and somehow he had ended up downing it. Right now he saw two of everything and as good as two Yixing’s sounded, he really didn’t want to throw up on the wrong one. Chanyeol had passed out forty minutes earlier and was curled up around Baekhyun’s feet like a puppy.
“Secret Santa time!” Yixing clapped his hands and ordered Kris to turn the stereo down which he barely managed to do and only because Xiumin was sitting beside him and helped. “Let’s go one by one and then you have to try and guess who drew your name.” He quickly grabbed at the package Kris had brought with him earlier. “I’ll go first because I saw Kris bring it in.”
His grin grew even wider when he saw the expensive sheets of creamy white music paper and leather folder to store them in. “Oh Kris…” Thin fingers traced his name monogrammed into the front. “These are beautiful.” Tomorrow that tight hug and hot breath against his ear would probably mean a lot more but right now Kris was more concerned with not falling over and crushing Yixing underneath him.
“W-Welcome.” He hiccupped, grateful for Xiumin’s hands helping him back into his seat.
“Suho, you want to go next?”
His present was a corded gray sweater with delicate ribbing. “Sehun or Tao.” He guessed, noticing the fancy brand in the collar.
Tao raised a hand. “I guessed your size. To be honest I’m sick of the sweater vests. We’re all sick of the sweater vests, Suho. Read my newsletter.”
Yixing quickly handed out another gift before Suho could reply.
Kai looked hopefully at Kyungsoo when he saw the gift certificates for the massage. “Were you my Secret Santa? I told you last week that I would kill for a backrub.” It had actually been a hint, but Kyungsoo hadn’t noticed.
He wrinkled his nose regretfully. “Sorry, not me. I just pointed Xiumin in the right direction.”
The thank you was whispered in Xiumin’s direction, but Kai’s pout never left as he stared mournfully at Kyungsoo.
“Aw hell yes, that’s exactly what I wanted!” Chen pulled the tasseled whip out of his box and fist pumped. “Someone looked at my wish list on Amazon!”
With a muffled curse, Suho grabbed the whip out of his hands after the third crack came dangerously close to the sleeping Chanyeol’s bottom.
“You’re welcome.” Kyungsoo spoke up dryly. “And next time maybe make a separate private wish list for the naughty items?”
Luhan jumped up before Yixing could reach under the tree again. “Let me go next! Please, please, please!”
He tore into the paper, not noticing Yixing’s sly grin when he handed him the slim box. Luhan froze when he had his present unwrapped and Yixing chuckled at the pale expression on his friend’s face.
“And what’d you get, Lulu?” He blinked innocently at him.
“You’re evil.” Luhan hissed, trying to hide the DVD behind his back. “God sent you to this earth because you’re a demon!”
The DVD was halfway up his shirt when Baekhyun ripped it out of his hands and read the title, erupting in guffaws. “Interview with the Vampire’s Asshole?”
Yixing smirked as he settled back against Kris’s side, pressing an arm on his thigh and unknowingly marking his territory. “I knew you had a thing for vampires so I just wanted to get you something you could use.”
Baekhyun cocked his head to the side as he sized Luhan up. “You mean those fanfictions you stop everything to read are vampire ones?” His eyes widened with sudden clarity. “Oh my god Luhan you’re reading Twilight fanfiction! Am I right? Am I right?”
The DVD was shoved into Luhan’s bag. He grabbed another present on his way back and shoved it towards Sehun. “Your turn.”
Sehun’s expression was confused as he opened the package to see a giant bag. “Someone bought me…. A purse? Without even asking what labels I stuck to or what colors I liked?”
“They said it was a man tote.” Baekhyun had the grace at least to look contrite. “I’m sorry buddy, I didn’t know what to get you and the woman at the store said these were their best sellers.”
With a snort that he didn’t even try to hide, Tao shook his head. “That’s last Spring’s style. She was just trying to get rid of their stock for new Spring items. I own two.”
A slim box was poked into Chanyeol’s back making him snort and shuffle closer to Baekhyun’s legs.
Sehun waved them off with an eye roll. “Don’t bother waking him up. It’s just a tie. God knows he won’t wear it anyways. He’ll probably think it’s a bandana and wrap it around his head.”
Yixing smiled as he handed a flat box to Xiumin. “You want to go next?”
“No!” Luhan was suddenly in between the two and his hands were reaching for the box. “I changed my mind!”
This only caused Yixing to grin wider because he knew it had to be something Luhan was now embarrassed about. He motioned towards Kris and as expected, his best friend snatched Luhan’s wild hands out of the air and pulled him backwards.
Xiumin bit back a smile and winked at Luhan teasingly. “Well, well, well.”
“Kill me now.” Luhan mumbled under his breath. He dropped his head to his chest and cursed Yixing’s entire bloodline.
A black t-shirt with the words “Bite Me” underneath bloody vampire fangs was held up for the rest of the group to see. They all screeched with laughter even as Luhan’s cheeks kept getting redder and redder.
“Put a few more drinks in me and we’ll talk.” Xiumin promised, patting the seat beside him for Luhan to come sit down in.
“And stay away from Kris.” Yixing warned, eyes narrowed at the other.
Chen pointed to a small present under the tree wrapped in old newspaper. “Speaking of Kris. Why don’t you open yours next.”
Yixing clapped happily and threw the present at Kris before sitting down, legs crossed over Kris’s thighs.
“Getting the Love You Deserve: Going From Friend Zone to Bed Zone.” Kris read the title of the self-help book out loud, his eyes furrowed with confusion.
The awkward cough and head dip towards the boy sitting half on his lap had Kris groaning and throwing the book behind the couch. “Way to be subtle, Chen.”
“I don’t get it.”
“Don’t worry about it, Xing.” Kyungsoo patted his leg comfortingly and pulled the largest present out from under the tree. “I’m going next because mines the biggest and it’s been driving me crazy.”
He was puzzled at the oversized box that was filled with sheets and sheets of bubble wrap. He dug his hand inside and grabbed a hold of something cold and glass.
“Beychevelle?” Kyungsoo spun around the room, cradling the bottle close to his chest. “Who bought me Beychevelle?!”
Baekhyun shoved Kai forward, the nervous boy raising a hand and hoping he wasn’t going to be laughed at.
Kyungsoo pulled him forward into a one-armed hug and grinned widely. “Thank you, thank you! This is a really, really good wine and I’ve always wanted to try it but it’s really expen-“ He cut off and took a step backwards, hand on one hip in anger. “Kai, this is really expensive. How did you afford this?”
He reached up to push a lock of hair off Kyungsoo’s face that had fallen in his excitement. “Merry Christmas, Kyungsoo.”
“Alright my turn.” Baekhyun pushed between them, not wanting to witness a sappy moment when he didn’t even have his present yet. He had to shoved Chanyeol off his feet which jolted him awake with a spray of drool.
He cheered loudly when he uncovered a DVD box set he had been talking about wanting for a few weeks. He immediately turned towards Suho and wrapped arms around his neck.
“I know this is you because you asked me last week if I had gotten it yet!”
Suho laughed, patting his back and quietly hoping Chen didn’t make a scene at someone else touching him. When he finally pried Baekhyun and his million thank you’s off his chest he wasn’t surprised at the wide, angry eyes his boyfriend was shooting him.
“There’s just one gift left.” He snuck his arm across the back of the couch and tangled his fingers into Chen’s hair, tugging him closer so that he could nip at his neck.
Tao leapt up with excitement, grabbing at the light box. “Wait.” He mouthed at the Korean word on the tag, wondering if he was reading it wrong. “This says Chen.”
Chen smugly snatched it away. “Well isn’t this awkward.”
Before he could open the gift, Yixing had swooped in and stolen it out of his hands. “Chen, why do you get two presents?”
He shrugged and reached again for the messily wrapped box. “Luck?”
Tears filled Tao’s eyes and he stomped his foot angrily on the ground. “You took my name out and put yours in twice, didn’t you!”
Chen finally got ahold of the box and greedily unwrapped it to reveal a stuffed black cat. “What the hell?”
With a loud yawn, Chanyeol raised an arm sleepily into the air. “You look like a cat, dude. You’re welcome.”
Sehun hesitantly held his purse out to Tao. “You can have my purse if you want it?”
“THAT’S FROM LAST YEAR!” Tao screamed, running towards the bathroom and locking the door behind him.
“You’re horrible.” Kyungsoo’s eyes were still reading the label on his bottle but his middle finger was aimed high at Chen. “He’s the baby, Chen. You should be nicer to him.”
By the time they had coaxed Tao out of the bathroom (with promises that he could be the one to draw on Chen’s face when he fell asleep) it was almost midnight and the few still awake boys were watching Chen and Chanyeol compete against each other in a boxing video game.
“I won!” Chanyeol blew the tie hanging over his eye up and to the other side of his head.
Yixing had Luhan’s head in his lap and was stroking through his hair in apology. “I still don’t understand what Kris’s gift meant.” He chewed on his bottom lip and gave Luhan’s hair an extra hard tug just to show that he was still angry over the Halloween incident.
Luhan snorted, eyes following Kris’s movements in the kitchen as he cleaned up the empty appetizer trays. “Hey Kris, bring me another beer!”
“Get off your lazy ass and do it yourself.” Kris leaned over to start the dishwasher, not even bothering to look back at them.
“This is why.” Luhan informed Yixing before sitting up and wrapping an arm around his waist. “You don’t have to be rude to me. It was for Yixing.”
Kris’s head popped up comically, the dishwasher detergent bottle slipping from his fingers for a moment before he caught it. “Oh.” He hurriedly grabbed the last bottle out of the cooler and smiled warmly as he handed it over. “Here you go, Yixing.”
“You two are both idiots.” Luhan muttered as Kris walked away. “Hey, I saw a present for Kris from you under the tree. What’d you get him?
His eyes were still trained on his best friend in the kitchen, the best friend that he realized he didn’t know all that well anymore. “Uh… Keychain. I got him a keychain.” It’d be a lie to say he hadn’t wondered over the years what it would be like if things changed between them, but he’d never been brave enough to instigate it.
“Lame.” Luhan grabbed the beer out of his hands and pushed him off the couch.
The tiny box was gripped tightly in his hand as Yixing slipped into the kitchen and sneakily grabbed something out of his junk drawer and hid it behind his back. “Kris? I want to give you your present now.”
The sweet eyes that he had known since junior high school crinkled up in the corners. “Okay.” He held his hands out but Yixing shook his head and pointed to the bedroom. There was no way he could do this in front of everyone.
Kris sat on the bed, something he did all the time that had never been a big deal but now, now it was a huge deal. “You okay, Yixing?”
Yixing put on a semi-real smile and sat beside him, leaving enough space for another person between them. “They all get on my nerves.” He joked, holding his present out. “I needed to get away from them all for a minute.”
It was obvious his words thrilled the other. That it meant he wanted Kris with him when he got away from everyone else and Yixing felt the tight grip he had held on his heart towards Kris start to loosen. This could happen, he pep talked himself. This can actually happen.
The keychain was just supposed to be something cute that Yixing had thought Kris would get a chuckle over and might slip on his key ring, but might also throw on his dresser and forget about. It hadn’t really mattered then. Now it did.
Kris ran his thumb over the plastic enclosed picture of the two of them with a tiny quirk of his lips. It wasn’t a big moment between them but Yixing had taken the picture one day while they were walking home from the movies together and Kris had to lean down to get his face next to his and they were both pink-cheeked from the cold and it might have also been Yixing’s phone background. “Thank you, Yixing.” He pulled his keys out of his back pocket and moved to clip them together.
“Wait.” Yixing pulled his hand from behind his back and held out the new addition to his present. “It goes with this.”
The spare key that he had kept in his drawer since he had moved in was held out towards Kris, his heart on the tip of his fingers.
“Your spare key?” Kris carefully grabbed the key from his hand. He licked his lips. “You want me to have a key?”
Yixing nodded and hoped that he couldn’t see the way his hands shook as he crossed them in his lap. “You’re here pretty much every time I’m home. And I’d like you to be here even if… Even if I’m not home.”
Kris fingers were cold on his chin as he tipped his head up to face him. “Yixing? Does this mean what I think it means?”
He stared at the tiny flecks of blacks in his dark brown eyes and hoped he wasn’t making the biggest mistake of his life. And if he was then Luhan was never going to hear the end of it. “As long as what you’re thinking is what I’m thinking. And if not then no, it doesn’t mean what you think it means.”
“I think I’ve been in love with you since you were sixteen and you had that weird haircut and you wore flip-flops with socks all winter because you said you didn’t like the confinement of shoes and I think it’s adorable how jealous you get when anyone else touches me even though you have no reason to be because anyone with eyes can see I only want you and I think that if you don’t let me kiss you I might go kiss Luhan just to watch y-“
He broke off when Yixing’s body was pressed against his, mouth hard against his, a growl in the smaller boy’s throat at the thought of these lips ever touching Luhan’s.
“Same page?” Yixing mumbled, hands fumbling with the buttons on Kris’s shirt.
He never got his answer because he was suddenly on his back and he was covered in heat and Kris’s tongue was in his mouth and it was the best Christmas present he would ever get.
---
Twenty minutes later Baekhyun blinked sleepily, not knowing what woke him up. He looked around the room and mentally counted the boys asleep and the ones still full of energy. Another sound came from the bedroom behind him and he realized who was missing.
“Oh yeah. Definitely a screamer.”

A/N Big thanks to the love of my life who read this a bunch of times just to help me sort out the giant mistakes because I'm an idiot. <3
